Rakesh Jhunjhunwala who recently died on 14th August at 6.30 am in Morning at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India as he was feeling uneasy in his health and they rushed to hospital, He was Actually suffering through kidney-related problems and acute multiple organ failure, May God Rest his Soul in Peace.

Apart from being an active investor, Jhunjhunwala has served as Chairman of Aptech Limited and Hungama Digital Media Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. and served on the Board of Directors of Prime Focus Limited, Geojit Financial Services, Bilcare Limited, Praj Industries Limited, Provogue India Limited, Concord Biotech Limited, Innovasynth Technologies Limited, Mid Day Multimedia Limited, Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited, Viceroy Hotels Limited and Tops Security Limited. He is also a member of the Advisory Council of the Indian International Movement for the United Nations (I.I.M.U.N.).
In 2013 Jhunjhunwala purchased 6 of 12 Ridgeway Apartments on Malabar Hill from Standard Chartered Bank for Rs 176 crore. Then in 2017 he bought the remaining 6 apartments in the building from HSBC for Rs 195 crore. In 2021, after demolishing the old building, he began construction of his new 13,000-square-foot home.
In 2021, he co-founded Akasa Air, a low-cost airline in India, with Vinay Dubey, former CEO of Jet Airways. The new airline has 2 aircraft with an additional 70 aircraft on order and will serve 3 cities from August 2022.
