So Saikhom Mirabai Chanu recently won Gold Medal for India in Weight lifting Category of 201 Kg ( 88 Kg+ 96 Kg) in Common Wealth Games 2022 surpassing second-placed Marie Hanitra Roilya Ranaivosoa’s 172kg (76kg+96 kg) from Mauritius and Hannah Kaminski’s 171 (74kg+97Kg) from Canada and she again made India Proud.

Saikhom Mirabai Chanu is a very famous Indian Athlete (Weightlifter) who was Born on 8th August, 1994 in Nongpok Kakching, Imphal East, Manipur, India in a Meitei family Her Father’s Name is Saikhom Kriti Meitei is a Employee at Public Departments and Her Mother’s Name is Saikohm Ongbi Tombi Leima is a Shopkeeper by Profession, Her Parents found her strength of weigh lifting when she was just 12 years old. she used to lift bundles of firewood for home easily while her elder brother found hard to carry it.
She than began her training from Sports academy in Manipur and also used to hitched trucks which carries sand that’s how she improve her strength in weightlifting.
Chanu began her training under sports Academy in Manipur and with Truck Drivers, as she used to hitched trucks which were loaded with sands that’s the reason that when she won her first Olympic medal she invited Truck drivers to Thanks them.
She began her Journey of weightlifting in 2011 when she took participation at 2011 International Youth Championship and at the South Asian Junior games and there she won Gold medal.

Ideal And Achievements of Mirabai Chanu
Mirabai Chanu’s Ideal is Kunjarani Devi who is a Indian Weightlifter she saw Kunjarani in 2004 Olympics and she decided to be like her as the game of weightlifting seems her so much appealing.
Mirabai chanu got her first Breakthrough in Glasgow edition of the Commonwealth Games in 2014 where she won Silver medal in Women’s 48kg Weightlifting category after that she qualified for 2016 Rio Olympics in the women’s 48 kg category but she failed to complete the event than she won gold medal in the Women’s 48 kg category by lifting a competition record 194 kg in total (85 kg snatch and 109 kg clean & jerk) in the 2017 World Weightlifting Championships held at Anaheim, California, United States.
She took participation in Tokyo Olympics 2020 where she won Silver Medal in Women’s 49kg Category where she lifted 202 kg total weight, became the first Indian Weight lifter who won silver medal at the Olympics and Second Indian weightlifter after Karnam Malleswari to win an Olympic medal, and the second Indian woman after P. V. Sindhu to win an Olympic silver, this was her victory which helped her gain fame in all over world.
And In 2022, Mirabai Chanu won Gold Medal at Commonwealth Games 2022 held at Birmingham, England where she lifted total of 201 kg in snatch and clean and jerk.
